Someone Will Be Watching You

British people will soon be able to catch* criminals from the comfort* of their living room and earn cash prizes.
A firm called Internet Eyes has offered to hook up* private computers to security cameras around the country.  Participants will be able to win over 1,000 euros for every criminal they help catch.
“The problem with CCTV (closed circuit TV) is that while cameras are practically everywhere, there’s hardly anyone watching them in real time,” said Tony Morgan, founder* of Internet Eyes.
Civil Rights advocate Charles Farrier, on the other hand, said “The Information Commissioner has put  profit above privacy in allowing a private company to launch its Stasi-style citizen spy game rather than defending the rights of British citizens.”
catch – chytat
comfort – pohodlí
hook up – napojit
founder – zakladatel
spy – špionážní
Question for discussion:
Is the reduction in crime worth the loss of privacy?
