Stars Lose Weight to Continue Shining Brightly

Obesity is a great problem throughout the developed* world.  When a celebrity gains weight, it has a bad effect not only on their health, but their career.  So, many stars with weight problems are taking direct action.
Anthony Hopkins, 72, who is perhaps best known as serial killer Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the lambs, has lost 34 kilos in the last two years.  “I’m in the gym* 6 days a week, I power walk, live on 800 calories a day.  No pasta.  No seconds,*” he said.
American comedian and game show host* Drew Carey got tired of making jokes about his weight.  He keeps a sign on his bathroom mirror that says “Eating crappy* food is not a reward* – it’s a punishment.*”  That has helped encourage* him to lose over 36 kilos.  He wants to lose another 5.5 kilos to reach his ideal weight.
Kirstie Alley, who played Rebecca, the sexy barmaid,* on Cheers, has been the object of comedians’ fat jokes for years.  She was a spokesperson for Jenny Craig diet products, but then gained weight again.  Now, she has lost 22.5 kilos and plans to lose 18 more using her own diet plan, Organic Liaison, which she promotes on her reality show, The Big Life.
